“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”
-Colossians 3:23-24-
I love adventure and I love Jesus. Simple as that. But I believe that God gives us passions, skills, and talents for a reason. The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 10:31 that “whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” My passion for adventure cannot be separated from God’s call to glorify Him.
My passion for climbing began as a boy when my Father and I would go on trips to Colorado to practice our rock climbing skills and hike through Rocky Mountain National Park. I always dreamed of climbing mountains like Everest, but it wasn’t until a trek to Everest Base Camp in 2010 that I became determined to make it a reality.
Since then, I have made a personal goal to climb all of the Seven Summits, and fly the Christian flag from each of their peaks. Since the beginning of mountaineering, it has been common practice for climbers to give honor to their country by flying their national flags on the summit. My goal is to recognize God, who not only gives me the strength to climb, but also “forms the mountains, who creates the wind, and who reveals his thoughts to mankind, who turns dawn to darkness, and treads on the heights of the earth– the LORD God Almighty is his name.” (Amos 4:13)
Through my climbs, I have raised support for several Christian causes. To learn how you too can help, please go here.
